How to Assemble MatterLevel with a Manfrotto Tripod

Setting up MatterLevel with a Manfrotto tripod is quick, secure, and designed to give you perfectly level Matterport Pro3 captures in seconds. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth and stable setup.

What You’ll Need

  • MatterLevel precision levelling system
  • Manfrotto tripod with a standard 3/8″ male thread
  • Matterport Pro3 camera
  • (Optional) Manfrotto quick-release head

1. Prepare the Tripod

  1. Spread the tripod legs fully for maximum stability.
  2. Extend the centre column slightly—keeping it low helps reduce vibration.
  3. Ensure the tripod head provides access to the 3/8″ mounting screw.
    • If using a quick-release head, remove the camera plate to expose the screw.

2. Mount MatterLevel to the Tripod

  1. Locate the 3/8″ threaded socket on the underside of MatterLevel.
  2. Align it with the 3/8″ screw on the Manfrotto tripod or head.
  3. Rotate MatterLevel (or the screw) clockwise until hand-tight.
  4. Ensure the unit sits firmly and evenly, with all levelling knobs accessible.

3. Attach the Matterport Pro3 Camera

  1. Align the Pro3’s threaded mount with the top fixing point on MatterLevel.
  2. Screw the camera into position until secure.
  3. Confirm that the camera sits centred and stable on the platform.

4. Level the Assembly

  1. Power on the Matterport Pro3.
  2. Open the Capture app and use the horizon/level indicator.
  3. Adjust the three levelling knobs on MatterLevel:
    • Turn each knob individually to bring the platform into perfect level.
  4. Once level, secure any locking collar or ring provided.

Achieving a correct level should now take only a few seconds.

5. Final Safety Check

Before scanning, double-check:

  • All levelling knobs are firm.
  • Tripod legs are locked and stable.
  • The Pro3 is tightened securely.
  • The system shows no wobble when gently nudged.
